Shri Mahavir

Shri Mahavir:

was born to King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala of the ancient Vaishali Kingdom. There is some disagreement among Jains regarding Mahavira's date of birth. Swetambal Jains believe that he was born in 599 BC, while Degambal Jains believe that he was born in 615 BC. According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Mahavira was born on the 13th day of the month of Chaitra. At the age of 30, Mahavira renounced all worldly goods and became a pilgrim in search of spiritual enlightenment. According to legend, he attained "Kevala Jnana" (omniscience) after 12 years of exile. Lord Mahavira devoted his life to the teachings of non-violence, truth, non-stealing, chastity and non-attachment. He declared that all living things have a soul and deserve love, compassion and respect. He also emphasized the importance of living a simple, peaceful and productive life.
